  3. I'd like to see more zombies, and maybe less dystopian/vampires...I've had enough of that.

  4. I think there is definately going to be an uptrend in harder Sci-Fi and deceptively heavy contemporary (the kind where you think that it's going to be a cute love story and you end up being completely emotionally wrung out by the end) Personally, I want to see more main characters that are not inherently "good" and altruistic. It annoys me becuase nobody in real life is willing to go through what so many YA MCs go through for somebody else and NOBODY consistantly makes the right choices like they do.

  8. I think the "era of dystopia" is slowly coming to an end for YA trends. There seems to be an upshot right now of mermaid/siren/selkie tales right now, but I'm hoping that a scifi or horror YA trend takes off.

  30. If I look into the crystal ball, I like to forsee more fairytales and retellings in the future. I think it's important to keep them popular, since they have everything you need in a story. A brave hero, a nice heroin, some action and drama, romance and in the end: always a happy ending :) It's a nice escape from the reality sometimes! But I hope that it's not a real instalove and a lot of authors are doing a good job! Like A.C Gaughen with Scarlet :D

  123. I trend I see in the future of YA (or a trend I WANT To see) is more NEW adult books (books with main characters out of high school so 17+ year olds) I would like more mature YA books, especially since college kids deserve their books, don't they?
