Meet You on Monday!

Hello, all! Welcome to Meet You on Monday! This is a very new semi-regular feature here: I’m going to be posting a fun question or subject (sometimes book related, sometimes not!) and of course, answer it myself here.  Feel free to answer it also, in the comments or grab the banner and do your own post! Through this feature, I hoping we all get to know each other better! :)

So here's today's question:

Reading Timeline: What books did you read growing up?

At the thought of meeting one my favorite childhood authors (witness fangirling on this post), I’ve been nostalgically remembering the books that I grew up on. I thought it would be fun to share a timeline of what books I was reading at different ages, books that stuck with me and made me the avid reader I am today. :

So there’s my reading journey! At least a little glimpse at it---there have been so many other wonderful books that made me the reader I am today! I know I’m probably forgetting some really obvious ones! :D  Notice a glaring pull toward fantasy my whole life? I always did love  magic and ghosties and dragons.

SO what about YOU?? What have you been reading throughout the years??

  1. Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden started it all for me.

  2. Love this!!!
so when I was around 18 - 21 all I was reading was High Fantasy, the ones from RA Savlatore and Higmann. Then I had a ver long phase of Historical Romances like Diana Gabaldon, mixed with some Murder Mysteries.
Since I'm around 30 all I'm reading is YA :))

  3. My childhood reads involved loads of fairy tales (all the classics), Astrid Lindgren, Michael Ende, and then the Famous Five, of course. I am of the Harry Potter generation, so that was a huge thing during my early teens. Oh, I'd love to re-read all these books, I had so much fun with them. High school was more about being really sophisticated, so it was Flaubert, Tolstoi and Vonnegut. Now, I'm somewhere in between the two, with a healthy dose of romance :)

  4. Aw, love Nancy Drew, too! My favorite thing now is to collect the old vintage copies with the awesome illustrations in them!

  6. Great timeline! Yes, fairy tales have always been a love of mine, too. HP didn't come out until I was already an adult, but wow did I love it to pieces! And ahhh the romantic stories. It's one of my favorite things about YA, there's always a nice dose of romance in most of them!

Awesome list. I really loved Sweet Valley High and Lois Duncan as well. I also enjoyed the Baby Sitters Club series and I went through an obsession with Anne of Green Gables, probably because of Gilbert. ;)

  8. Looks like awesome books sweetie :D I'm so glad you got into reading, hih. <3 I didn't really read that much books when I was smaller. A few Goosebumps books in school. Then I started the Darren Shan saga. <3 Which I still really love. Sigh. :)

  9. We had such similar reading tastes growing up, Becky -which is funny since I'm in Ireland and you're in the US. I loved Paddington Bear as a child - I read lots of Enid Blyton too (Famous Five, Secret Seven) -- Sweet Valley High was total fave and I was a big Babysitter's Club fan. Our high school reading is identical -- lots of horror for me too. Mostly King & Pike. Love this feature!

  14. I adore Alice Hoffman---her stories always just have that perfect touch of something magical or surreal. I also love the Narnia books, though I didn't read them until I was an adult! Just wonderful!
