So, the one thing I DO believe in is this: don't judge a book by its publisher! I've found some great, nay, ...fantastic indie books in my reading adventures. So, let's talk about Indie covers. The fun thing about Indie covers is the fact that, in most cases, the authors choose their own covers. What's so cool about that is you get to see a cover that really depicts how the author sees their own character and the world that they've written.
Here are just a few of the amazing covers that I've discovered in my wanderings around Goodreads, all Indie or small publishing houses. Enjoy the eye candy!!
Somber Island
by T. Lynne Tolles
This one sounds amazing, about a servant girl and a mysterious master of the house, ghostly dreams and strange creatures!

I'll definitely be checking this one out...a young girl who suddenly starts seeing dark auras around everyone, in a town where everyone seems to be acting a little strangely. Oh yea, she also has a ...q-tip habit?? That alone has me so curious about this one! :D

I love this tagline:

Betrayal
by Mayandree Michel
So curious about this one! Greek gods, creepy dreams, and a girl who must leave her own time and venture into the past to assume the role she's meant for: saving an ancient empire from evil forces! This sounds so cool!

That's all for now. Do you have any Indie covers that have caught your eye??
These are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so this post has convinced me to start looking into indie authors more often. I admit that I fall victim to the hype of big publisher's books, and don't stop to see the other great books available. I'll have to look into them more often. Also, some of these books sounds awesome! I'm going to check them out and add some to my list. :)
ReplyDeleteWow these covers are breathtaking and I am so the same way; I judge books by their covers. I'm going to have to add these books to my TBR pile. Thanks for the great post!
ReplyDeletewill these books be available on amazon or bn?
ReplyDeleteThey're gorgeous !!
ReplyDeleteThese all have really amazing covers! Thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteDo you know if there are online stores that sell these books that ship international? I was looking at some online bookstores, but they only send books to the US. ;( I thought maybe you know one. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the covers too!
@Divya
ReplyDeleteI know a Somber Island, Spiderwork, and Watched are available through Amazon, and a different edition of Jenny Pox is there, too. Watched and Betrayal are both at Barnes.
@ Nina, not sure about international shipping, I know I couldnt find them at BookDepository. :(
I will contact the authors to see if they can give us a little more info!
Thanks, Miss Becky! I think Claudia at Phatpuppy Art did a great job with the new Jenny Pox cover. It should be available in paperback on Amazon within a few days. Right now the new paper is only available at CreateSpace, which is an Amazon subsidiary but I'm not sure if it's international https://www.createspace.com/3573311
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your nice comments, and to Little Miss Becky for featuring Jenny Pox & letting me know about it!
Oh, you can also enter to win a Jenny Pox with the new cover at Bewitched Bookworms today: http://www.bewitchedbookworms.com/2011/03/prince-is-in-house.html
Thanks again!
I also recommend LK Rigel, she's a great writer & a fantastically nice person!
ReplyDeleteO I love them all. Especially the last one :)
ReplyDeleteHi Miss Becky! Thanks for this awesome post and the email that followed.
ReplyDeleteWATCHED will be available in paperback and ebook from Amazon and B&N. I was told by a Book Depository rep that since they work closely with my wholesaler, cataloging WATCHED wouldn't be a problem. Be on the lookout for my deets post on my blog(one of these days):~)
I also wanted to say you made a valid point. Indie authors are so lucky to have full creative control. So many authors lose that control once they go traditional. I won't get into all of that(saving it for a more in dept post), but I'm lucky I get to depict the character I see in my head onto the cover.

I also heard from Mayandree Michel today. Here's what she had to say about Betrayal:
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about the launch of my book and I'm on cloud nine from all the bloggers who have shown so much support and enthusiasm. The book will be available early April at Amazon.com for kindle and in paperback, Barnes and Noble for Nook, and smashwords.com.
