This week, one lovely finished copy and one book from a trade:
The Weekly Nutshell:
{Monday} What's New YA September Releases & Giveaway
{Tuesday} Waiting on Wednesday: Burning Kingdoms
{Wednesday} Six Feet Over It blog tour giveaway
{Friday} Review : Stega by Karen Monahan Fernandes
This week I finished The Fall and though my review won't be out until October 1st when the blog tour rolls through, I will say that I really enjoyed this dark, eerie, completely bizarre book. I also listened to the inspiration story, Poe's Fall of the House of Usher and was intrigued by the close parallels of the two stories. Currently, I'm reading Gates of Thread and Stone, which after seeing some "meh" reviews I went into with much more subdued expectations. So far I'm enjoying it---I'm about 160 pages in and the story is at a pretty big turning point so we'll see where it goes from here!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! :D
I did the same thing after finishing The Fall. It was fun to see the difference between the stories. Made for you sounds good and I like the creepy cover from Servants of the storm. Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteI just finished The Girl From the Well which is equal to reading a creepy Japanese horror movie. I have Gates Of Thread and Stone checked out from the library so hopefully I'll be reading it soon.
ReplyDeleteServants of the Storm looks interesting. I see that you are reading Gates of Thread and Stone, i really enjoyed that one. Great haul.

Oooh Made for You! Like the sound of it but not too fond of the cover, the title font is a bit weird. Glad you're enjoying Gates of Thread and Stone! I was initially very excited about that book too; glad to hear it's better than "meh". Happy reading :).
ReplyDeleteOhh. So glad that you enjoyed The Fall :D I loved that book. <3 So good. And yay for pretty books :) I will be reading Made for You once my pre-ordered hardcover arrives. <3 (the eARC I got does not look pretty on my iPad :( Sniffs.) Anyway. I hope you have an awesome week Becky. <3 Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to read Made For You, which I am hoping to start today! I hope it doesn't disappoint! Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteOoh, Made for You looks gorgeous! I'm so glad you liked The Fall! I need to pick it up soon, but I just loove Poe, so I'm terribly excited. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll admit my problems with Gates of Thread and Stone didn't come around till later in... But I'm really hoping you'll end up enjoying it all the way through! Can't wish a meh reading experience on you! :D
I hope you have a great week Becky!
Such intriguing covers for both of these books! Glad you're enjoying Gates of Thread and Stone so far, I'm hoping to start it soon.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy everything :D
I've heard a lot of commotion about this book (mostly because of the cover changes). I'm not sure whether or not I want I want to pick it up but maybe I'll give it a shot :) Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteI have seen this book a lot and always want to pick it up but it is just SO big! I don't know if I can manage another 500+ book. Thanks for the review :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard lots about this book but never have I ever had the desire to pick it up. O see it at my local used books store all the time but I don't know...
