New Shelf Goodies & The Weekly Nutshell {94}

For New Shelf Goodies, I'll be showing you what lovely books I acquired this week, whether from publishers, or the library, or from whatever half-crazed book-buying binge I happened to go on. :D (Inspired by Tynga's Stacking the Shelves) The Weekly Nutshell will be just that...my week here at Stories & Sweeties, in a nutshell. (inspired by Ginger @ GReads and her recaps at the end of the TGIF posts)

New goodies from my mailbox:
For review:
The Witch of Salt & Storm by Kendal Kulper
The UK edition of Salt & Storm! So excited for this one!
Falling into Place by Amy Zhang
This looks really good---along the lines of Thirteen Reasons Why
Strange and Ever After by Susan Dennard
Love this, but it's a second copy for me so I'll be passing it on!
Don't Let Go by Michelle Gagnon
Seeing this author talk made me want to read this series!
 Get Even by Gretchen McNeil
Sounds interesting! Though I don't usually go in for the high school revenge story line.
The Alliance by Shannon Stoker
I haven't heard much about this series. Anyone recommend?
Defector by Susan Winnacker
Same for this one...anyone recommend it?

Thanks to Hodder Children's, HarperTeen, William Morrow, and Razorbill for these!

The Weekly Nutshell:
{Tuesday}  What's New: July YA Release List & Giveaway
{Wednesday} Dream Boy Blog Tour & Giveaway

I got home from Vegas on Monday night and it's taking me a bit to get back into the swing of things. Especially because we host a big party for 4th of July at my house every year, so I came home and got right to planning that. Plus my best friend is moving away in a few weeks *sniffle* so I'm thinking things may be spotty at best here on the blog for a bit. We'll see how it goes LOL. This week, I should have a review up for Darkness Strange and Lovely and possibly Strange and Ever After, and also I'll be recapping my ALA experience!

Have a great week, everyone!

  1. I think you'd love the Susanne Winnacker series, Becky. I loved the first book, Impostor, last year. The romance is reminiscent of Rose/Dimitri in Vampire Academy!

  3. Sounds like a crazy couple of weeks for you. I've read three Gretchen McNeil books and all have been 4 star reads so I'm looking forward to Get Even. Falling Into Place has been getting great early reviews.

I got The Witch of Salt & Storm from NetGalley and have heard a lot of good things, so I'm excited to start it. Hope you enjoy it! Haven't heard much about Defector but I have enjoyed other work by Susanne Winnacker, so hopefully it'll be good. Happy reading! And good luck to your friend with the move, hope all goes well! :)
