Calling all audiobook junkies!! I need your recommendations! I have a few Audible credits built up and I want to hear what you think I should use them on. What I'm looking for is something in the YA or MG genre. So...tell me! What is the best audiobook you've listened to lately?? Or one that you very highly recommend?
The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Cathrynne M Valente (I think I spelled her name right) is awesome! She narrates it herself, and it's just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't read Lauren Oliver's books yet, the audiobooks have a superb narrator. I couldn't stand the print versions, but then I listened to the audio version of Delirium, and I was enthralled.
Oh, awesome idea! I once had an ARC of Girl who Circumnavigated Fairyland, but the print was soooo tiny that I was getting headaches! I always meant to go back and try it as an audiobook! Great suggestions, thanks!
DeleteI just finished both FEVER by Lauren DeStefano and ARTICLE 5 by Keisten Simmons...both audios were really good!

DeleteI just finished up Glow, it was really awesome. The Legacy Series works great in audio too.

I've been curious about Shatter Me in audio---with all the strike-throughs, how on earth did they read that? :D Ah, Catastrophic History and Legend are already on my must-read list, and I often hear good things about Infinity, so I'll definitely keep those in mind! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteRe: Shatter Me, they do the strike-throughs with a sort of pencil scratch-out sound after the passage being struck out. What is difficult/impossible to understand is how much is being struck out. So that was a little frustrating, but didn't bother me as much as I thought.
DeleteI don't know if you read it or not, but Harry Potter (brittish version) as audio book is simply perfect... I loved it so much!! Stephen Fry has an amazing voice!

ReplyDeleteTry White Cat (FAB narration), anything by Neil Gaiman, and I just finished an awesome Adult Fiction audiobook called A Grown Up Kind of Pretty.
LOL, they are just my membership credits that have gone unused the past few months!

On Friday, I was planning to do a post on this very topic! I have just recently been getting into audiobooks, but have already noticed what a vastly different reaction I have to various narration styles.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites so far are: Legend, Cinder, Forgotten, Starters, and Tempest.
I really really didn't like Shatter Me as an audiobook at all. I found the reading to be very overly dramatized, and that didn't work for me. But that's just my preference! The Wizard of Earthsea was another over-emotionalized reading, in my opinion.
Cinder is still probably my favorite book of this year so far. Loved it so much. I may try it out on audiobook just to experience another way!
DeleteIf you've read and liked If I Stay by Gayle Forman, then I definitely recommend listening to Where She Went. I love the narrator's voice!
ReplyDeleteI've always meant to read this series! And I have to say, liking the narrator's voice counts for alot with audiobooks! I learned that with the Fallen audiobook---I didn't care for the narrator's voice much at all, but I really liked the story, so I ended up switching to the book half-way through.
