Old Books, New Looks {7}

Time again for another round of Old Books, New Looks, where I feature the covers of books that have already been released and their redesigned paperback counterpart! :) Sometimes I like the new better, sometimes I like the old. Here's a few that I've come across lately:

      The OLDIES  vs.  The NEWBIES

Let's just talk about these, shall we?
Unspoken: Noooo!...I loved the original cover. So unique. The new one? Not so much. Doesn't stand out to me at all.
Auracle: The original cover was perfect, can't see why they would change it---if I saw the new one on Amazon, I would have thought it was self-published, to be honest.
The Twin's Daughter: I like the new better...with the old cover, I wouldn't have thought this was a YA book.
Lucid: The new cover looks like too many others that I've seen, plus the old one wins my heart for being purple :) Also, the original shows you right away that it's about dreams.
The Secret Sisterhood of Heartbreakers: Loved the original and prefer it, but I see how the new one kind of goes with the current trend and has kind of a cool retro feel.
The Wicked and the Just: Another one that I'm really disappointed with the change. The original was stunning. The new is kind of blahhh.

So to sum up...I like the originals for all but Twin's Daughter. Everyone weigh in!! What do you think of the changes?

  1. I tend to prefer the original when it comes to covers. I hate it when they do a complete 180 and change all the covers for a series - that really irks me!

  2. Aww, I think that changing the cover to Unspoken and Auracle were huge mistakes! The originals are so beautiful. Though I really do like the new covers for Lucid and The Secret Sisterhood for Heartbreakers. :) Thanks for sharing!

  3. I agree with you about Unspoken! The original one looks unique..the new one? plain!

I like the new Lucid cover even though I agree that it's like the usual style right now. But this also might sell this book, right?

The new Twin's Daughter looks nothing like I'd read and this looks self-pub for me I agree with the old one it wasn't clear which genre it is - but at least it stood out!

Ah all these changes, I just hope the publishing peeps know what they do!

  5. Most of the time, the new is better. I get it. But that last one just isn't right to me for some reason.

  6. I don't understand the changes for Unspoken or the Secret Sisterhood. At all. Both have such beautiful, whimsical original covers. It's never made sense to me why publishers would get rid of awesome covers. I don't really like any of the changes, both those two are especially annoying.

  7. I like the originals for all of them. I'm surprised they changed UNSPOKEN and LUCID - the original covers were amazing!

  8. I agree with you on all except Unspoken. It's not that I don't like the original, I do, it's really cool, but every time I saw it I thought it was a kid's book because the silhouette of the girl on the cover looks really young to me.
